Can I File for a Bergen County Divorce if I Don’t Live in New Jersey?

In order to get a divorce in New Jersey, you need to satisfy the residency requirements of the state. A New Jersey court cannot take a case it does not have jurisdiction over. According to the residency requirements, if you no longer live in NJ, you can still file for divorce in NJ so long as your spouse has continuously lived in NJ for at least 1 year immediately preceding your filing for divorce.
